So I was meeting a friend here and walked in and immediately saw a sign that said under new ownership...hmmm. My friend had a gift certificate so I was willing to give it a shot since I have heard from other folk that it was pretty lousy before. I was greeted immediately by "Raj" the new owner who did his time at the Taste of India learning what to do and "what NOT to do as well" ((not a big fan of that place). Soon my guest arrived and we went to the buffet. The food was great! The selection on the buffet was fresh and hot! The Paneer Nan was basic but very good. I especially liked the Chicken Tikka Marsala and the Pajorka's. The basamati rice was just right as well. There was plenty of sauces and fresh fruit as well. Not a big fan of the Butter Chicken as I tasted more (potatoes?) than chicken but other than that the food was excellent. For dessert they had Golub Jamoon? These doughy fried balls dipped in honey were delish! All in all...good food. Service: good but he needs to hire some more people. The poor guy had the whole place and was starting to get worked pretty hard. But hey, he is a new owner and I will cut him some slack! Try them out...I think you will like em!

Went here for the lunch buffet and I'm hooked. I used to go to another Indian Restaurant on Flintridge for their lunch buffet, but I find the selection and quality of the food here to be better for about the same price. Exceedingly pleasant and accommodating staff and a comfortable atmosphere...definitely a fan.

Good food, reasonable price for buffet, very polite & attentive service. The chai is very tasty. Would definitely come again for lunch.

Ok, staying true to my word, I just got back from a return visit tonight. Food was as awesome as before. Plus papadam and chutney now included with meal as is rice. Service was through the roof good. Very attentive and personable (without being intrusive -- see original review). Nice touch was when the busperson accidentally slid a portion of my entree into the basket of Nan. Very little sauce got onto the Nan which was absolutely no problem (don't you use the Nan to soak up all the Delicious sauce anyway?) Waitress insisted on bringing our table another basket on Nan. I can very easily raise my original 4-star rating to 5-stars. This is the best Indian restaurant in town by far. Highly recommended!

This place is great. As a veg, I worried about finding ANYTHING in CO Springs. Not only did I find veg here, it was REALLY good!

  • Jonathan W.

The food itself was spectacular! The portion sizes however, don't match how much you're paying. They were a little understaffed but our waiter did a great job taking care of everyone. Come back for the lunch buffet.

Loved the food and the music. Won't hurt the wallet and alot of variety of naan. Yum!

After second guessing myself and a bad experience at some other indian restaurant in town, I gave this place a shot. To my surprise I found myself in a nicely decorated, good smelling dining room, greeted with a smile and a warm welcome. At what first seemed to be your basic indian buffet proved to be a delicious array of finely prepared dishes(both meat and vegetarian), complete with salads, chutneys and desserts. A very relaxed setting, this place would be perfect for a quick lunch or a dinner date. I've tried lots of Indian restaurants in many different cities I have to say this one is top ranking, and being the only indian restaurant in town that does it right, I have no hesitations giving it 5 stars. Don't leave without trying the chai tea!

The best in town by far. Our family has been coming here since they opened. The food is fantastic!!!!!

Came with an Indian friend so she order everything for us. we had 2 different curry and a special fried rice that they only cook at wedding and special occasion. She said that this dish takes 8 hours to make and so are the curry. Is your traditional Indian food cook to perfection!! ABSOLUTELY MY FAVORITE INDIAN FOOD IN SPRING!!!

Awesome food and great service. Loved their Lamb curry and chicken tikka masala. Naan breads were fresh made. I would highly recommend this place. Plus I got 10% for check-in on Facebook.

This is the only Indian restaurant I come to. I am a Speings native, and I have tried all the other Indian restaurants in town and this one is my favorite. The management is very friendly, the food is amazing, and the price and portions ate great! I highly recommend coming here for dinner or the buffet. The butter chicken is to die for!

Great food, great prices, friendly staff. The buffet is awesome and all you can eat. Not a huge selection but it's all fresh and they keep it stocked up. About $9 per person.

This is the best Indian Restaurant in town...food is delicious. ..Butter chicken is so amazing, spiced to perfection, and the Naan bread, just completes the meal....great service and very professional waiters. Lunch is an open buffet....and very decently priced! I've tried all the Indian restaurants in town...this is by far the best..outstanding food!!

Great food, good prices, clean decor and friendly staff. No wonder it's busy despite being tucked away in a far flung corner of a strip mall. The Butter Chicken has a nice mild and creamy sauce. The curries are milder; good for someone venturing into Indian cuisine. The Saag Paneer (creamed spinach with cheese) had a light, enticing coconut flavor but a little light on the Paneer (cheese). The Kheer (rice pudding) made for a delighful finish to a very satisfying lunch. Will definitly return.

Very poor service .. I can't imagine any indian restaurant with no paneer!!!! Owners were super rude with fake accent !!! Never goin to this restaurant again , save yourself time & money ,avoid going here.

I don't normally write reviews but this restaurant was definitely 5 stars! Our server who also happened to be working the bar, cleaning, and even acting as a hostess was so professional and attentive. He was working so hard just to keep the people in the restaurant happy about their overall experience. He even gave us complimentary dessert on the house. Aside from the service, the food was very delicious. The Naan cooked to perfection along with the saag paneer and the butter chicken. Everything was so appetizing; even the rice was delicious. We ended up ordering from the menu and decided that we wanted to get the buffet as well and our bill didn't even come close to what we thought it should have. We will definitely be returning.

Really the worst Indian food we've ever had. The service was phenomenal so it makes me sad to say the food was bad but it really really was.

We have ordered to-go for four appetizer items on a Saturday afternoon last weekend. This is the longest I have waited for any order in my life. I spent close to two hours just to get some freaking onion pakoda. Who in the hell takes two hours just to make pakoda. I could have ( a decent cook) made it myself in less than an hour starting from scratch. Whenever we asked about the status the owner was like 10 mins more. 10 mins more. And the food was terrible as well. Not worth the price and definitely not worth the wait. I hope they get a new cook or a new owner who has a better control of operations.

We got take out from here and I'm a fan. First off, I'm not an expert on Indian food. I'm an expert in what I think tastes good to me and this food was really good. We had three dishes and all three were tasty. The naan was perfect and the rice was appropriately flavored. My only complaint is that some of it seemed unnecessarily heavy. Two of our dishes had cream in it which I realize is a part of the recipe, but it leaves me with guilt. I've had other Indian food that seemed lighter and healthier, but I'm sure the cream is what helped give it a good flavor. In the end, I will go back to this place. I can't speak to the service or the ambiance, but the food is excellent for casual Indian fare.

Delicious meal! Ordered based on server recommendation. Loved everything including the pleasant staff.

    (5)
  • Cielo G.

Most everything was bland. Some dishes on the lunch buffet were literally swimming in grease. There was a fair number of customers in the place, and the kitchen wasn't keeping up in refilling the food. Colorado Springs just doesn't have topnotch Indian.

  • Andrew S.

Wow! Now this place knows how to make some seriously spicy Indian food. I always ask for my curry dishes to be 'as hot as you can make it' which in most places you can get by asking for it "Indian hot". Here they warned us, we make it somewhat hotter than most Indian restaurants - are you sure you really want it that hot? I went for it! They were not kidding either, I can honestly say it was some of the hottest Indian food I have ever had ANYWHERE! I offer that advice up front for all other crazy spicy food addicts like me. Or for those who enjoy Medium spice like my wife, even hers I would rate as hot, though it was very enjoyable all the same and I did compliment them on being one of the first places to almost manage to defeat me on my "omg, my esophagus has melted" challenge! Now let me also say, it's not just spice for the sake of it, it's great food. Very enjoyable. Unlike a lot of restaraunts, this one provides papad/papadums up front for free without having to order it. They also have a unique dipping sauce that goes with it, different to most places but very nice all the same. I have no clue what is in it, I just know it was tasty. We followed this with an Onion Bhaji appetizer. This is a favorite of mine anyway, but I can honestly say these are the largest sized one's I've ever seen - which to me is just a plus. I kid you not, this appetizer alone could feed two people and you would be good. Some of the best Onion Bahji's I've had, and came with the same dipping sauce as before. At this point, they could do no wrong! Since it was a restaurant I hadn't been to before, I decided to go for the old staple of Chicken Tikka Masala for my main dish. I got hot as I said before, wife got medium. Now, this is not your really creamy CTM that tends to be more the norm, it was definately less yoghurty and erred more on the onion and vegetables than most I've had, but it was non the worse for that. Honestly, it was a little more like Chicken Madras, and since that's a fave of mine too, I had no complaints. If you're in or visiting the Colorado Springs area and would like to find some good Indian food, you could do a lot worse than to give India Palace a try.

  • Brian M.

Mediocre at best. They put green peppers in the chicken tikka masala, which I assume is some effort to Americanize the dish and I'm not sure if the tandoori chicken was actually prepared in a brick oven; it taste much more like bbq. I am guessing from all the positive reviews that few people have had truly good Indian food, but with taste being such a subjective thing, I suppose to each their own.

THIS is real Indian food! I've been here a few times for the buffet and the food is absolutely fantastic and as close to authentic as it gets in Colorado. It rivals the Indian food I had when I lived in Manhattan and the food I ate when I lived at an Ashram so many years ago. If any of you remember Taste of India on Vickers this place is owned by the same family and their food has only gotten better. Everything is seasoned with real spices, the meat and veggies are high quality, the buffet is always fresh, and the pakora is absolutely perfect. The butter chicken and vindaloo are my favorites. Seriously, don't bother going anywhere else.

  • Aaron T.

Nope. Probably the first buffet where I don't feel like I got $5 in food. I love Indian food and I've had great expensive Indian food and amazing cheap Indian food and this place was by far the least appetizing. The rice was cold. The chicken curry tasted of chicken and tomato, stewed way too long, so it was rubbery and bland. There was no curry flavor of any kind. The saag paneer had a strange bitterness I've never experienced before. It also lacked flavor, but ta least it was hot (temperature, not spice). I guess you can't mess up an onion bhaji, so that was good. The butter chicken was creamy but lacked spice. It was also room temperature, so I just had a bite or two. The only good thing was the fresh papadum and the tamarind sauce with a hint of mango. They did have a nice kheer and mango pudding, but we came for lunch, not dessert. The staff was very friendly and service was excellent which is how they got the one star.

Went to lunch at India Palace with our kids while vacationing in Colorado Springs. They have been here before; but, it was my first visit. This is a very good Indian buffet, with excellent variety and taste. We LOVED the Butter chicken, Tandoori chicken, naan, and Dal and my son-in-law loved the beef vindaloo & the spicier curries. Everything tasted fresh and the family had a great visit. Family has been for dinner, with a more varied menu and recommend it as well. Prices are very, very reasonable. This is a go-back-to place for us!

Great food, I tested out delivery for lunch- the service was timely and food at a good temp and taste. I had the mixed platter, spinach naan and mango drink. I look forward to trying more from them in the future.

Four of us decided we wanted some Indian food for dinner on a weekday. We had the butter chicken, bangan burta, saag paneer and naan. All of the food was delicious. The place is well appointed, the staff was friendly and the food came out quickly despite the place being packed with people. Well worth the visit. This is my new favorite Indian.

A 75 minute wait for average Indian food. I called in a take out order on a Thursday night and was told it'd be a 30-40 minute wait. Seemed a bit excessive, but OK. I arrive after thirty minutes and the kid behind the bar is able to tell me they're working on my order, but can't give me an estimate on time. 20 minutes later (50 minutes in) I'm told they just have to pack up my naan. This is a lie. At the hour mark, they finally tell me that they burned my wife's dish and had to cook it again. 15 minutes later, I finally get my food. Did they comp me the whole thing? They did not. I guess return business isn't that important to them? The decor and ambiance of the restaurant is about what you would expect of a strip mall restaurant with a tacked on bar. The food was OK, but far from the best Indian I've had. I won't be going back.

So I am a novice when it comes to Indian Food... I had the Butter Chicken.. it was scrumptious! Saag Paneer with Garlic Naan Bread, Delicious! I will come back!

Everything here is awesome. We stopped by here for lunch buffet. It has many choices, butter chicken is the best I have ever tried. The staffs are very friendly. So many customers already when we reached only 20mins after they are open. We will come back again.

Have been here once for lunch and I have enjoyed their buffet quite a bit. The atmosphere lacks a bit. The restaurant is set up with old booths and they have outdoor trellis to separate the tables. The decor could use a whole lot of work (I love indian restaurants that infuse saris, spices-like bold colors and traditional wall art. But this is just a bit tired. The service however is very nice. We spoke to what I believed to be the owner and he was really sweet and friendly. I will return :)

The wait staff was very friendly, personable, polite, and prompt, especially considering that we showed up at 9pm on a Monday night. We were seated quickly, well-attended to, and the staff was very knowledgable about the food. (We had gluten, dairy, and corn allergies at our table, not to mention a handful of vegans that were not disappointed! Quite a feat for any restaurant.) The menu was full of options for omnivores, vegetarians, and vegans alike. The servers were helpful and willing to make changes to accommodate dietary/health preferences. The food was hot (temperature-wise), beautifully arranged/aesthetically pleasing, and full of traditional Indian spices. We especially enjoyed the Aloo Gobi and the Vegetable Biryani. My only negative criticism was the atmosphere. While the staff was inviting, the decor was a bit off-putting (drab). The food and the staff made the look of the restaurant itself almost unnoticeable though... I would return to this restaurant based on the quality of food, quality of people, and reasonable cost of the dishes. Well done, India Palace! Note: We ordered off of the menu, so I couldn't comment on the buffet offerings. Suggestion(s) for the restaurant: 1. Better Restaurant Decor 2. A vegan & allergen-free dessert option

I love this place!!! The lunch buffet is fantastic and the service is always great! Naan is always super yummy and everything is flavorful and reminiscent of my time in India. I will be frequenting this place for the foreseeable future!

Scrub the coupons that come in the mail...there will most likely be the buy one get one free (up to $10) or the $10 off two dinner entrees. There's also a 15% discount for military. Came here with The Woman, My Princess and The Little Prince and ordered a few dishes: Claypot Mixed Grill - $18.50 - even with the $10 off, was probably a bad choice. The chicken tikka and lamb tikka were just overcooked and dried out. Not worth $8.50 and definitely not worth $18.50. Should have gone with their Tandoori Chicken which I love! Butter Chicken - $12.95 - tasted fantastic even though the portions were so small. I felt like we should have ordered two orders instead. I'm going with Butter Chicken over the Chicken Tikka Masala with cream sauce because it's a buck cheaper and I don't like tomatoes in my cream sauce. Rice - rice is cheap guys...give us larger portions...I know you like to flavor the rice and whatever, but really...a 20 lb bag is only $15 bucks. Hook it up a little. Chai Tea- can't complain...I think I drank 3 cups of this stuff. Other places do it a bit better. Naan - we got a free order of plain naan to accompany our garlic naan...good thing we did...I'm a fan of their plain naan dipped in the butter chicken sauce. I'm coming back here for lunch...I just spent $32 (with the 10 buck coupon) and I left just wanting more...more rice...more butter chicken...and I regret not getting the tandoori chicken. I just wish they had some Indian Pop Music Videos in the background...that would be sweet!!!

We tried this place out because we had a Entertainment book coupon that was about to expire. This was the first time we've been here or even heard about it. I think we've been to most of the Indian restaurants in town. This place is in kind of in a awkward location and a little hard to find if you haven't been there before. The place is clean and well decorated, a really nice atmosphere compared to the other Indian restaurants we have been to in town. We actually had three people checking on us and they were all very cheerful, friendly and helpful. My wife eats gluten-free and had a lot of choices on the menu. The food is very good as well. We will definitely come back here the next time we want Indian cuisine.

All the food available is delicious and the setting is Great with it's low lights, India music and everyone seeming to be enjoying there goods. I always grab a local Bristol Compass IPA too, sits perfect with the meal.

Family and I needed a change for Sunday brunch. Went here and the entire family loved the food and was pleasantly surprised. The Chicken Marsala, the Naan, Basmati Rice, etc. everything was flavorful and fresh. I'm not an expert with Indian food, but having enjoyed some good Indian food while working on the east coast for a month. I have to say, i enjoyed everything here and the taste was nearly as good as I remembered. Plus, at $7.95, it's hard to beat.

Always beyond a pleasurable experience! Great food at an extremely affordable price all day long. The lunch buffet Is the best way to sample the array of dishes from vegetarian to meat curries and biriyanis and breads, all you can eat for $8! Young restaurant owner Raj is beyond attentive and will make sure you leave w/ a full stomach and a smile!

Great place. Fully stocked bar and good service. Date had the butter chicken and I had prawn masala. The 2 things that I was disappointed was that I was trying to explain, and I precedented the conversation with, "I was just wondering, if this was at all possible, to make a shrimp tikka masala. I don't eat chicken, but I want the sauce. So basically, I want chicken tikka masala, but shrimp instead of chicken." The waiter was very nice and acommodating and said it was no problem. That I was basically ordering prawn masala. I said, well whatever you call it. The most important thing, is the sauce for me. He just kept telling me I was ordering prawn masala and that "tikka" was just a method of cooking.. I wasn't so sure because this happened to me before where prawn masala was indeed a different dish. But he assured me that I was going to get the chicken tikka masala sauce. Nope, I didn't. It was the wrong curry and I after all that I just didn't feel like sending it back since he was so nice. Clearly he didn't understand, and I did my best to explain. Whatever.. Then, they only gave 4 small sizes of shrimp. The dish was mostly bell pepper.. They should have called it bell pepper masala. The flavors were there, though and I kept on dipping my naan in my date's dish anyway. Naan, rice and raita was decent. Though I only gave this place 2 stars, I would eat here again because of the atmosphere and service. I know now to order my date's dish.

My family and I have dined at this restaurant twice now. The first time was a few weeks ago, and again tonight at the "Grand Opening" (under new ownership), which we were surprised to find was FREE, and DELICIOUS! The flavors of the food is great, the meat is incredibly tender, and the staff is friendly. The service (based on our first visit- not tonight's business) was a bit slow, but I'm guessing the staff is new under the new ownership, and this will improve. I'm sure this is a place we will return to over and over again.

india palace.....great food...nicer people.you will be surprised to see more non-indian customers there. It only means one thing..food is fantastic.pleasant people and a friendly management.I dont say this because the owner is from my city in india, but one can actually relate this to good ol' home cooked indian food.yup! iam a fan.

As someone who has not ate at very many Indian restaurants I'm not sure how much this review will help- but I find the food here to be exceptional! My usually go to is the tandoori chicken with basmati rice and cheese naan. The tandoori chicken is cooked to perfection- still sizzling when they bring it out to you with green bell peppers and onion and curry dipping sauce- a perfect combination of flavor and spice. Add the basmati rice and cheese naan and it is a little plate of heaven. The service is good- very friendly and attentive staff. Full bar service available. Again as a person who has not had much Indian food I really don't have a comparison but I find the food here wonderful!

India Palace was phenomenal! The vegetable samosas were tender and deeelish. Mali Kofta amazing and the Vegetable Korma ws the creamiest I've ever had. The service was excellent as well. I can't wait to try their lunch buffet!

  • Deb W.

The best Indian restaurant in Colorado Springs! The food is great and the service is friendly and prompt. I've tried vegetarian and chicken dishes and they are all good. Some of my favorites are the butter chicken and chicken vindaloo. Favorite veggie options are the saag paneer, the malai kofta and the baigan bhartha. The saag is especially good. I was told once that the chef puts in a little mustard greens in with the spinach. Whatever it is, it's very tasty. The papadums and tamarind sauce are excellent as appetizers. The sauces have a depth of flavor I really appreciate, and they can accommodate all heat levels from totally mild to very hot. Also, their house chardonnay is decent and they have a half-price happy hour on Friday and Saturday nights. I've been coming here for years and they have definitely improved the decor from the old days (it used to be kind of pink and now it's earth tones). Is this a fancy restaurant? No. Is it a nice place to get great food with friendly service? Most definitely, yes!

  • Iuliana S.

It's a nice place with friendly service (perhaps too friendly). The food was good, but my curry sauce had too much cumin - and being slightly addicted to curry, this was a tad disappointing. Otherwise, everything tasted great. Their tamarind and mango sauces are absolutely delicious, and so is their naan. Can't wait to go back for some Indian goodness.

  • Michelle M.

My husband and I love this place. It's the best Indian restaurant in Colorado Springs and we've tried them all. There is an very good lunch buffet 7 days of the week. Good variety and they keep it filled. I love their saag paneer and their butter chicken the most. They serve some dishes that other Indian restaurants in the Springs don't have as well as serving the typical Indian restaurant fare. The staff is very nice and friendly, the service is very good, and the prices are moderate. The only reason I give them 4 stars instead of 5 is because the restrooms leave something to be desired. Not horrible, but I try not to use it if at all possible.

When our favorite Indian restaurant in town went south we tried this place. Wow! Everything was wonderful. The food tasted fresh and the service was wonderful -- very fast and friendly. We had three kinds of Naan, and five separate dishes -- beef, lamb, paneer, shrimp and veggie. All of them blew us away. This has definitely become a favorite.

India is the birth place of Chicken Tikka Masala and Curries. Indian foods are prepared with a blend of finely mixed spices quite popular across the region. The spices develop the rich taste in Indian food enough to boggle your mind. The ever-increasing fan base of Indian food around the New York city is steadily increasing because of the large number of Indians who traveled to the land of dreams. The Indians also brought their very own vibrant, colorful, and aromatic authentic dishes for the people in the West.
